Thanks for all the sweet birthday wishes, they were much appreciated.

Elaine and I took some time over the last few days to slow down and enjoy ourselves. We saw John Sayles moving new film AMIGO, about the American takeover of the Phillipines during the Spanish American War, and have been listening to an audiobook of A PRINCESS OF MARS while driving. Also stopped in Brentwood at Sweet Rose Creamery for the best banana split on the planet…

Recently, I got two emails, one asking for acting advice, the other for writing advice. I’ll be sending out emails shortly to the Table with both.

But for now I’ll just say this — YOU decide if you’re an actor or a writer, no one else, and the most important thing to do is to create the WORK. Write things, shoot things, perform. Make it easy for people to see it, bang the drum for yourself. And improve, improve, improve. Get advice and feedback from those who are professionals and know what they’re taking about (and are encouraging and supportive). Build a life that allows you time to work on your craft and reflect on yourself and the world. Stay connected to your heart and your passions and seek out joy. Be a light in this world. And make sure whenever you ask anything of anyone that you’re giving back.
